Here we go...

Well, it's been 2 weeks since my posting '2 weeks from today', so that can only mean Today is The Day. Today is the final day to turn in submissions for the Devine Memories Design Team. Honestly, after the sh'crappy week I had last week, I was debating whether or not to do it at all, but I kept chipping away at it, and ultimately I'm glad I did.
Now, regular blog followers (or those family members I obsessively ask to critique my work) may recognize a similar THEME between this project and my last design team submission. Yes, again, the house. Okay, here's the explanation: I had originally taken the tan house and 're-worked' it. I had the single family 'window frame' like the house above, as well as finishing it with beeswax, a new addition since last summer's audition. But, as I neared the end of the remodel, it just started to look...overdone. Matt recommended I do something to 'brighten' it up, which I tried, and it just looked busier, and, quite frankly, messier. I was not feeling it! I began to wish I had started with a white base, more like, you know, a HOUSE. I went to Michael's craft store to poke around, and came away with the 2-pieced house. Having had the experience of making one house (2wice) and knowing the techniques I wanted to 'show off'', it really did not take too long to come up with this finished product. One major difference between the 2 houses are the 'words' along the eaves of the roof-they are all bible verses about home and being a wife. I like that.
The Scrapbook page I decided to turn in is the page with the picture of the 4 boys, slightly reworked as well. I noticed that a few of the elements (the letters) were slightly crooked, which honestly does not bother me that much unless I am looking at it with an extremely critical eye, but since there was going to be a group of strangers looking at the page with a critical eye, I thought it best to improve on what I had.
Looking at the pictures, my eyes go right to the things that were, in my opinion, not carried out exactly the way my mind conceived them. When I dropped off my submissions, I had a chance to look at some of the work of ladies already on the design team, and admittedly, my confidence faltered. They are all soooo good. As Matt said: "well, it's a really popular hobby!" It's true. Also, since I refuse to spend $45 on each of my pages, sometimes I fear that the little details I add that aren't flashy or multi-layered go unnoticed. *Sigh* Can you tell my confidence is low? Well, one positive: Matt asked me if the ladies all squealed and screamed when I dropped off my house? I told him, "well, she did gasp twice and ask 'Oh, how cute is this?!'" Matt laughed, "So, they WERE excited!" Yes, I guess. We'll see on Monday how excited they were!
